“Cool The Globe,” a citizen-led platform, was born from the simple yet profound question: “What can I do about climate change?” It aims to empower individuals to take meaningful action against climate change. The platform revolves around a mobile application designed to help users reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions through achievable targets.
The “Cool The Globe” app provides a structured approach to climate action. Users can set personal monthly and annual targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It encourages taking a variety of climate actions that can be integrated into daily routines. Additionally, the app facilitates tracking and recording the greenhouse gas emissions saved through these everyday actions, fostering a sense of achievement and progress.
This initiative has achieved significant impact, reaching users in over 110 countries and engaging 26,000 individuals. It has contributed to avoiding over one million kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions, demonstrating its effectiveness in mobilising citizens for climate action. The platform and its creator have been recognized for their efforts in environmental protection, receiving accolades such as the Taru Lalwani Award and the Olive Crown Young Green Crusader of the Year Award.
Founded by Prachi Shevgaonkar in 2017, “Cool The Globe” exemplifies how innovative thinking and technology can converge to address global challenges like climate change.
