Green Tiger: Pioneering the Future of Sustainable Mobility with Electric and Hybrid Retrofitting Solutions

Green Tiger, a pioneering startup founded by Ashish Dokania in 2020, is reshaping the future of mobility in India by offering innovative electric retrofitting solutions for two-wheeled vehicles.

By transforming traditional petrol scooters into hybrid and fully electric vehicles, Green Tiger is not just addressing the growing demand for sustainable transport but also contributing to a greener, more cost-effective future.

Challenge of Pollution and Rising Fuel Costs

India, with its vast network of over 400 million two-wheelers, faces significant challenges in terms of air pollution, fuel dependence, and vehicle emissions.

Green Tiger is tackling these issues head-on with its groundbreaking retrofitting technology, which offers two core solutions: Hybrid Electric Vehicles (i-Hybrid) and fully Electric Vehicles (EVs).

These solutions provide an eco-friendly alternative to traditional petrol-powered scooters, significantly reducing carbon emissions while saving owners money on fuel and maintenance.

The i-Hybrid system is a world-first innovation by Green Tiger, enabling users to seamlessly switch between electric and petrol power with a manual toggle.

This flexibility is crucial for India, where infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs) is still developing.

By providing a petrol backup mode, Green Tiger ensures that riders are never left stranded, even in areas with limited charging facilities.

The fully electric retrofit, on the other hand, removes the petrol engine entirely and replaces it with a powerful electric motor, offering smooth, quiet rides with zero emissions.

Both options are designed to be affordable, accessible, and compatible with existing scooters from popular manufacturers like Hero, Honda, TVS, Suzuki, and Yamaha.

A Green Solution for Everyone

Green Tiger’s aim is to make “Green & Affordable Mobility a reality for everyone.”

By providing ARAI-certified and government-approved retrofitting solutions, the company is enabling the conversion of existing petrol scooters into eco-friendly vehicles.

These conversions not only contribute to reducing India’s carbon footprint but also extend the lifespan of vehicles, minimizing waste and promoting sustainable practices.

The retrofit solutions come with impressive features: three driving modes, including reverse, real-time tracking via a smart mobile app, anti-theft and accident alerts, and the ability to swap batteries at partnering stations, which ensures uninterrupted rides.

The technology is supported by a robust infrastructure, with over 200 battery swapping stations across Bengaluru and beyond, in partnership with leading battery-sharing companies like Sun Mobility, Battery Smart, and Lectrix.

A Journey of Innovation and Growth

Green Tiger’s journey began with a vision to create an affordable, sustainable solution for the millions of commuters in India who rely on two-wheelers for daily transportation.

The company was recognized as one of the “Most Promising Innovations for 2022” by FICCI, and has since garnered significant support from government agencies such as the Ministry of Heavy Industries and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, as well as industry leaders like Bajaj Motors and educational institutions like IIM Bangalore and BITS Pilani.

In addition to their retrofitting solutions, Green Tiger manufactures its own battery packs and Battery Management Systems (BMS) under the banner of a joint venture with Bajaj Motors, ensuring high-quality, Made-in-India components.

This focus on indigenous innovation is aligned with India’s push for self-reliance in the electric vehicle sector.

Empowering the Future of Mobility

Green Tiger’s products have the potential to redefine mobility in India, where more than 60% of the population relies on two-wheelers.

The startup is not only offering affordable, sustainable transport solutions but is also actively contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas like reducing air pollution, enhancing health outcomes, and promoting responsible consumption.

With a commitment to continuous innovation, Green Tiger plans to expand its retrofitting services nationwide, helping millions of riders switch to greener, more efficient vehicles.
