Robo Bionics Revolutionizes Prosthetics with Innovative Grippy Hand

Robo Bionics, a pioneering startup recognized by the Startup India Initiative, is making waves in the prosthetics industry with its groundbreaking GrippyTM hand.

Designed, engineered, and made in India, this innovative bionic prosthetic is set to redefine the lives of those with below elbow amputations.

Addressing a Critical Need

For millions who have experienced below elbow amputations, finding an affordable and functional prosthetic has often been a challenge.

Traditional options can be expensive, cumbersome, and difficult to use, leaving many individuals without the tools they need for everyday tasks.

Robo Bionics has stepped in to address this issue with GrippyTM, a lightweight, battery-powered prosthetic hand that offers a unique sense of touch and multi-grip control.

A Vision Realized

The journey of Robo Bionics began at IIT Patna, where a batchmate’s need for a prosthetic arm inspired a group of IITians to develop a solution.

What started as a personal project soon evolved into a mission to create a prosthetic hand that is not only affordable but also easy to use and capable of providing a real sense of touch.

In 2016, Robo Bionics was founded as Bionic Hope Private Limited by Llewellyn Dsa, Anil Nair, and Priyanka Dsa, marking the beginning of a transformative journey.

From Concept to Reality

In 2017, Robo Bionics began developing GrippyTM, focusing on creating a product that would be lightweight, easy to learn, and affordable.

By 2018, user trials were underway, and by 2019, GrippyTM had successfully passed full compliance testing.

A pilot study in 2020 confirmed the prosthetic’s effectiveness, leading to its official launch at Global Bio India 2021.

Revolutionary Features

GrippyTM stands out due to its patent pending Sense of Touch technology, which allows users to feel and grip objects with a level of sensitivity akin to that of a real hand.

This innovation not only enhances the functionality of the prosthetic but also significantly reduces the learning curve for both clinicians and users.

The prosthetic is designed to be ergonomically sound, ensuring comfort and ease of use throughout the day.

Impact and Recognition

The impact of GrippyTM has been profound, providing users with newfound independence and the ability to perform two handed tasks effortlessly.

Its affordability and ease of use have made it an attractive alternative to traditional myoelectric hands, simplifying the training process for clinicians and users alike.

Robo Bionics’ efforts have not gone unnoticed, with the company earning accolades such as the National Startup Award 2021 for their contributions to the field.

Looking Ahead

Robo Bionics continues to innovate with future developments like the BrawnBand platform.

The company’s mission remains clear: Provide a Hand for Every Missing Hand with the Sense of Touch

With a strong vision to improve the quality of human lives through robotic and bionic solutions, Robo Bionics is committed to empowering individuals and enhancing their everyday experiences.

As Robo Bionics moves forward, the startup’s dedication to solving real world problems with advanced technology makes the future of bionic prosthetics looks brighter than ever.
