In a landmark deal set to revolutionize air ambulance services in India, The ePlane Company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International Critical-care Air Transfer Team (ICATT) to provide a fleet of 788 eVTOL air ambulances.
Valued at over $1 billion, this partnership marks one of the largest private orders in the electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) sector.
Building India’s Largest Air Ambulance Network
ICATT, a leading aeromedical service provider in India, plans to establish the country’s largest air ambulance network with The ePlane Company’s e200x eVTOL aircraft.
These advanced aircraft are designed for rooftop take-offs and landings, enabling faster, more efficient medical transport, especially in rural and remote areas.
The e200x eVTOL aircraft are marketed as being seven times faster than road transport, making them the ideal solution for reaching accident-prone or hard-to-access regions in critical situations.
Under the deal, ICATT plans to deploy eVTOLs in every district across India, ensuring access to world-class air ambulance services nationwide.
About ICATT
Founded in 2017 by Dr. Rahul Singh Sardar and Dr. Shalini Nalwad, ICATT has already established a proven track record, conducting over 2,300 critical patient airlifts both in India and abroad.
With this new partnership, ICATT is poised to expand its mission, providing fast, reliable air ambulance services to those in need across the country.
The ePlane Company
Founded in 2019 by Satya Chakravarthy, The ePlane Company focuses on creating compact, lightweight, and sustainable urban mobility solutions.
As India’s first private company authorized to design civilian aircraft, the company has received preliminary approval for type certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The company operates under two brands: ePlane, which is focused on manned eVTOL aircraft for air ambulances and air taxis, and Amber Wings, which develops unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for various sectors, including agriculture, logistics, and inspection.
Funding and Future Prospects
The ePlane Company recently raised $14 million in its Series B funding round in November 2024, which will support its mission to transform urban air mobility.
The company is set to launch its air taxi service commercially by 2026, further positioning itself as a leader in the eVTOL and electric aviation sector.
With this groundbreaking partnership with ICATT, The ePlane Company is not only advancing the future of air mobility but is also playing a pivotal role in enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of healthcare services across India.
