Over two years after selling his video analytics startup Vidooly to the Good Glamm Group, entrepreneur Subrat Kar has ventured into the autotech space with his new startup, MotorFloor.

This innovative platform facilitates the purchase of commercial vehicles, including trucks, tractors, buses, three-wheelers, and electric commercial vehicles, by connecting users with nearby dealers.

MotorFloor lists commercial vehicles from renowned brands like Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, and Bharat Benz, among others.

Additionally, the platform provides users with detailed information on vehicle types within their budget for specific segments.

To support the purchasing process, MotorFloor also offers financing and insurance options through partnerships with four banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), as well as three insurance companies.

“Currently, if someone wants to buy a commercial goods or passenger vehicle, they have to travel long distances, visit multiple dealers for the best price, and speak to various banks and NBFCs for financing. Often, these customers are misguided by sales executives. We’re building MotorFloor to help customers make better-informed decisions by checking the specifications, on-road prices, features, and other details of the vehicle,” Subrat Kar shared while speaking about venture.

Although MotorFloor is currently bootstrapped, it is in talks with undisclosed investors who are focusing on startups in non-metro cities. This capital infusion will support the startup’s plans to expand into offline channels.

The offline experience centers will enable potential customers to test drive models from over ten commercial vehicle brands, receive expert opinions, and access quick financing options.

“In our experience centers, we will be showcasing vehicles from brands that have a presence in the region. The first of our centers will open in Bhubaneswar in June, with the remaining six set up in tier-III cities like Jajpur, Sambalpur, Raipur, and other cities in Jharkhand,” Subrat Kar added.

Furthermore, MotorFloor plans to use the capital to enter the used commercial vehicles segment and B2B business, focusing on commercial vehicle OEMs and auto ancillary companies.

MotorFloor competes with established players like CarDekho, which sells tractors via TractorsDekho and trucks through TruckDekho, and CarTrade, which sells used commercial vehicles through OLX India.

However, Subrat Kar believes that MotorFloor’s strong connection with India’s rural heartland will differentiate it from more established competitors.
