Snapdeal Partners with Bhashini to Enhance Digital Inclusion Across India

Snapdeal, a major player in India’s value-focused e-commerce sector, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Digital India Bhashini, an Independent Business Division established by MeitY within DIC.

This collaboration, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aims to develop products and services that enhance language translation capabilities, thereby promoting digital inclusivity throughout India.

The MOU was signed by Bharat Venishetti from Snapdeal and Mr. Amitabh Nag, CEO of Bhashini.

The partnership underscores a commitment to addressing the diverse linguistic landscape of India and making digital services accessible to all.

The collaboration will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to develop innovative solutions catering to over nine vernacular languages.

Himanshu Chakrawarti, CEO – Snapdeal, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating,

This initiative aligns seamlessly with our mission to enhance accessibility and affordability in online shopping, particularly in Tier 3 cities and beyond.”

Snapdeal’s commitment to the value segment is evident, with more than 86% of its orders coming from non-metro areas and over 72% of buyers from smaller cities and towns.

Furthermore, 95% of the products on Snapdeal are priced below Rs. 1000, ensuring affordability and accessibility for a diverse consumer base.

Snapdeal is dedicated to enhancing user experience by continually refining its offerings, including the integration of vernacular languages within its app.
