DroneAcharya Secures INR 7.53 Lakh Contract for Drone Training from Defence Ministry

DroneAcharya, a listed drone solutions provider, has been awarded a contract worth INR 7.53 lakh by the Ministry of Defence to offer specialized drone training to Indian Army officials.

This contract is for providing both a drone pilot training course and a drone building course for eight officials from the Indian Army.

As per the filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the training programme will begin on February 3, 2025, and will conclude on February 12, 2025.

The project will be carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence’s Department of Military Affairs, Mechanised Army Courses Group, based in Ahmednagar.

This contract marks a continued expansion of DroneAcharya’s role in drone-related training solutions.

In August 2024, the startup had secured another significant contract valued at INR 50.44 lakh from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar, for upskilling 150 individuals in drone technology.

Additionally, the company had received approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to open its fifth Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) in Dharwad, Karnataka, aimed at training 240 officials from the Karnataka Forest Department under a contract worth INR 96 lakh.

DroneAcharya’s growing reputation in drone training is further underscored by its contract with the Adani Group to provide DGCA-certified drone pilot training, as well as its recent deal with Tata Communications to develop customized drone solutions, worth INR 5.5 lakh.

Moreover, the company entered a partnership with Canada-based Volatus Aerospace in December 2024 to manufacture drones for the latter in India.

Despite its expanding contract portfolio, DroneAcharya reported a significant drop in its consolidated profit after tax (PAT) for the six months ending September 2024.

The company’s PAT stood at INR 1.50 crore, down 62.1% from INR 3.96 crore during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
