Cyient Announces Establishment of Semiconductor Subsidiary to Strengthen Market Position

Cyient Ltd Announced Establishment of a New Wholly-Owned Subsidiary to Strengthen Semiconductor Design Capabilities

Cyient Ltd, a global company in Intelligent Engineering solutions, has announced the formation of a new wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to semiconductor design services.

This strategic move aims to leverage the growing semiconductor market and enhance Cyient’s capabilities in Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) turnkey design and manufacturing.

In an official statement, Cyient Ltd disclosed that the new subsidiary will operate using a fabless model to design and sell specialized analog mixed-signal chips.

The new entity will take over Cyient’s integrated semiconductor technology business, further solidifying the company’s position in the semiconductor industry.

Krishna Bodanapu, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Cyient Ltd, emphasized the significance of this development: “We are happy to announce this strategic initiative that enhances our capabilities in Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) turnkey design and manufacturing. As the global semiconductor market is expected to hit a trillion dollars by 2030 and the Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) forecasting the industry’s growth to USD 100 billion by 2030, we are well positioned to capitalize on the vast opportunities for growth and influence in this evolving
market.”

Cyient’s existing subsidiaries, Cyient DET and Cyient DLM, already have a strong presence in the semiconductor sector, offering IC consulting, development, and production solutions such as prototyping, test and qualification services, and packaging.

The new subsidiary aims to build on this foundation by focusing on specialized turnkey ASIC design and chip sales.

This move will enable Cyient to deliver world-class solutions under capable leadership, adapting to market cycles, and addressing the industry’s technology and capital requirements more effectively.

The new subsidiary will significantly enhance Cyient’s ability to provide value to stakeholders, supported by its portfolio of over 600 intellectual properties (IPs) across various functions and technology nodes.

Cyient’s longstanding engagements with key customers and its global capabilities give the company a strategic edge for significant growth in the semiconductor industry.

The announcement comes at a time of heightened activity in India’s semiconductor space, with the government promoting semiconductor manufacturing.

Recent developments include L&T’s acquisition of semiconductor design startup SiliConch Systems, Accenture’s acquisition of Excelmax Technologies, and Zoho’s plans to enter the semiconductor space.
