Blinkit Expands Internationally for Raksha Bandhan: Now Delivers Rakhis and Gifts from Abroad to India

As Raksha Bandhan approaches, Blinkit, the quick commerce platform owned by Zomato, has announced expansion of its services to international markets.

In a recent update on X, Blinkit founder Albinder Dhindsa revealed that the platform is now accepting international orders for delivery in India until August 19.

This service extension allows users from the USA, Canada, Netherlands, France, Germany, and Japan to send rakhis and gifts to their siblings in India.

Dhindsa highlighted the convenience of the new service, stating, “Folks living abroad can now place orders on Blinkit to send rakhis and gifts to their siblings in India and we’ll deliver in 10 minutes!”

This move aligns with Blinkit’s broader strategy to enhance its user experience and expand its product offerings.

The quick commerce platform has been rapidly scaling its operations and diversifying its catalog to meet increasing consumer demands.

Currently, Blinkit operates 639 dark stores across India, with plans to expand this number to 2,000 by the end of 2026 while maintaining profitability.

Blinkit has experienced a significant surge in its financial metrics. In Q1 FY25, the platform’s gross order value (GOV) surged 130% year-on-year to INR 4,923 crore, up from INR 2,140 crore in the same quarter the previous year.

This increase is also reflected in its average daily GOV per store, which has risen to INR 10 lakh from INR 6 lakh.

In its financial results, Zomato, Blinkit’s parent company, reported a strong performance for Q1 FY25. Zomato’s overall profit after tax (PAT) jumped to INR 253 crore, compared to INR 2 crore in Q1 FY24.

This impressive growth is attributed to the success of its quick commerce vertical, Blinkit, which outperformed the company’s other business segments, with Blinkit’s GOV growing 130% year-on-year.

With its international expansion and robust financial performance, Blinkit continues to cement its position as a leading player in the quick commerce sector, offering innovative solutions for customers both within India and abroad.
