Mumbai-based gaming giant Nazara Technologies has announced a significant international acquisition, securing 100% ownership of London-based Curve Digital Entertainment Ltd (Curve Games) for INR 247 Crore in an all-cash transaction.
The acquisition was approved by the company’s board and will be executed through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Nazara Technologies UK Ltd.
In a stock exchange filing, Nazara confirmed that the transaction involves acquiring the entire issued share capital of Curve from Catalis Limited for a consideration not exceeding £21.7 million (approximately INR 247 Crore).
Strategic Global Expansion
The acquisition marks a strategic push by Nazara into the global PC and console gaming market, a move that is expected to significantly broaden its platform reach, diversify genre offerings, and establish a stronger presence across international geographies.
Curve Games, known for its strong publishing capabilities and a diverse game portfolio, is set to play a pivotal role in Nazara’s long-term global ambitions.
According to the official filing, the integration of Curve’s publishing expertise is anticipated to accelerate cross-platform IP development and support sustainable value creation for Nazara in the international market.
Acquisition Spree Continues
The Curve Games deal is the latest in a series of strategic moves by Nazara to expand its footprint in the gaming and media sectors:
- Earlier this month, Nazara received approval from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to acquire insolvent sports entertainment startup Smaaash Entertainment.
- Its subsidiary, Absolute Sports, is in the process of acquiring two digital wrestling media properties — TJRWrestling.net and ITRWrestling.com — in an all-cash deal.
- Nazara also increased its stake in Absolute Sports Private Limited by 8.97%, making Sportskeeda a wholly-owned subsidiary.
- It acquired a majority stake in Funky Monkeys Play Centers Pvt Ltd, a Mumbai-based indoor play center chain, for INR 43.7 Cr (around $5.01 Mn).
- Conversely, the company offloaded its entire 71.54% stake in Sports Unity, creator of the multiplayer quiz game ‘Qunami’, for INR 7.15 Lakh, and is set to sell 94.85% stake in its subsidiary OpenPlay Technologies to PokerBaazi’s parent Moonshine Technology for INR 104.33 Cr.
Nazara’s recent activity underscores its aggressive approach to portfolio optimization — scaling high-growth assets while exiting non-core businesses.
