The Government of Maharashtra has partnered with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) to establish Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, and 3D Printing.
The initiative was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today in New Delhi.
These centers will serve as hubs for capacity training and Research & Development (R&D), empowering students with industry-relevant skills and boosting job placement opportunities.
This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy, which places a strong emphasis on practical and technical education.
By focusing on these advanced technologies, Maharashtra is positioning itself at the forefront of technical education in India.
The CoEs will be established at Government Polytechnics and Government Engineering Colleges across the state, enabling students to receive education tailored to current industry needs.
The state will seek funding from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and other government organizations to support these centers.
Maharashtra has long been a leader in industrial development, with a strong technical education foundation that includes 40 government polytechnics and approximately 300 private polytechnics.
The state’s well-established infrastructure in technical institutions has already seen the creation of Centers of Excellence in IoT at six government polytechnics and in Robotics & Automation at three others.
With the new MoU in place, more CoEs will be established, further solidifying Maharashtra’s role in equipping students with the skills needed for the future workforce.
The signing of the MoU is expected to have a far-reaching impact on the state’s education landscape, helping students become industry-ready in a rapidly evolving technological world.
The move reflects Maharashtra’s commitment to fostering innovation and bridging the gap between education and industry demand.
