Ola Electric, the leading name in India’s electric vehicle (EV) space, has officially entered the electric motorcycle segment with the launch of its ‘Roadster’ series.
The new lineup was introduced today at Sankalp 2024, the company’s annual flagship event in Bengaluru, signaling a major expansion in its product portfolio.
The Roadster series includes three models: Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster Pro, with prices starting at ₹74,999.
Speaking at the event, Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder of Ola Electric, , emphasized the significance of the company’s latest venture, stating, “Today, two-thirds of India’s two-wheeler market consists of motorcycles. With Ola’s entry into this segment, EV penetration is poised to further accelerate in the Indian two-wheeler market,”
He emphasized that Ola’s success in the scooter segment has paved the way for a more extensive push into the motorcycle market, positioning the company as a leader in the EV space.
The Roadster series is designed to cater to a broad range of consumers, from everyday commuters to high-performance enthusiasts.
The Roadster X, hailed as the fastest electric motorcycle in its segment, is available in 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh variants.
Meanwhile, the standard Roadster, equipped with a 13 kW motor, is touted as the fastest in the commuter segment, offering 3.5 kWh, 4.5 kWh, and 6 kWh variants.
For those seeking top-tier performance, the Roadster Pro stands out with a powerful 52 kW motor delivering 105 Nm of torque.
The flagship 16 kWh variant of the Roadster Pro accelerates from 0-40 kmph in just 1.2 seconds and 0-60 kmph in 1.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 194 kmph.
Bookings for all three models and their variants will open today, with the Roadster X and Roadster set to reach customers first.
Ola Electric stated that deliveries of these bikes will begin in Q4 FY25, while the Roadster Pro will be delivered starting in Q4 FY26.
In addition to the Roadster series, Ola Electric also teased its upcoming models, Sportster and Arrowhead, hinting at a robust future lineup.
