SEDEMAC Mechatronics, a Pune-based deeptech startup, has secured $100 million in funding through a combination of primary and secondary transactions.

The funding round was led by Xponentia Capital Partners, A91 Partners, and 360 ONE Asset, with $91 million coming from secondary transactions and a $9 million primary infusion at a valuation of $260 million.

The secondary transaction facilitated a full exit for the company’s early investors, including Nexus Venture Partners, TR Capital, and Montane Ventures.

The newly acquired capital will enable SEDEMAC to build a new manufacturing plant and expand its market presence across India, the US, and the EU.

Shashikanth Suryanarayan, the founder of SEDEMAC, emphasized the significance of this investment for the company’s growth and international expansion plans.

Chetan Naik, fund manager and senior executive vice president at 360 ONE Asset, expressed confidence in SEDEMAC’s ability to capitalize on the increasing trends toward electrification and motor control technologies.

Founded in 2007 by Shashikanth Suryanarayan, an assistant professor in the mechanical engineering department at IIT-Bombay, and his students Pushkaraj Panse, Amit Dixit, and Manish Sharma, SEDEMAC sells proprietary control technologies globally.

These technologies are critical for applications in internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) mobility, as well as in generators and power tools.

The company claims to supply millions of motor controllers annually from its Pune-based plants to major markets, including two- and three-wheeler ICE and EV, generator, and e-bike segments.

SEDEMAC’s product portfolio includes sensorless integrated starter generators, electronic control units (ECUs) for fuel injection, smart ignition systems, and voltage regulators.

The startup’s client list features some of India’s leading automakers, such as Tata Motors, Mahindra Group, Ashok Leyland, and TVS Motors.
